A lone from defender McDonald Lameck gave Silver Strikers a 1-0 win against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers as the central bankers win 2024 TNM Super League title with two games to wind up the season.
The Lilongwe giants came into the game fully aware that getting maximum points over Wanderers would give them the match needed Super league title after 11 years.
However, the home side started the game very well and they got their first chance in the sixth minute but Thierry Sama failed to connect a cross from Isaac Kaliati.
The Nomads had their second chance in the 27th minute after a good exchange of passes between Stanley Sanudi, Misheck Botamani and Wisdom Mpinganjira who later found Sama but his shot went wide for a goal-kick.
Silver had their chance to take the lead in the 37th minute after a beautiful exchange of passed between Daniel Sandukira and Misheck Selemani who found Chinsinsi Maonga but his shot went over the cross bar.
In the second half, Silver continued from where they stopped and Uchizi Vunga almost registered his name on the score-sheet after receiving a pass from Chimwemwe Idana in the 50th minute but his shot went over the bar.
Three minutes later, Lameck put his side ahead with a powerful strike following a defensive lapse on the part of Wanderers to give his side the much needed goal.
Silver Coach Peter Mponda made his first substitution in the 72nd minute, bringing in the fresh legs of Charles Chipala who replaced Misheck Selemani.
The Nomads on the other hand brought in Clement Nyondo and Francisco Madinga for Thierry Sama and
Felix Zulu.
The Central bankers made another substitution in the 81st minute as Zebron Kalima replaced his captain Chikondi Kamanga while the Nomads brought in Wallace Adam for Stanley Sanudi.
Adam had a chance to equalise in the added time but his shot went off target and Silver went on to get maximum which has taken their tally to 64 points, ten points above Wanderers who are second on the log table.
After the match McDonald Lameck was voted man of the match.
Silver Strikers who are so far unbeaten in the league,will receive 100 million for winning the championship.
